Marist School (Atlanta, Ga) Summer Camps

Explore. Design. Build.

A STEAM Adventure Camp for rising 6th & 7th Grade

The Marist Technology Department invites all rising 6th and 7th graders to a camp where every day the focus is on new and exciting technology - drone building and flying, augmented reality, 3D printing, and reverse engineering.  Working in small groups and using the latest technologies, campers will analyze problems, design creative and practical solutions, and build workable models.

This camp is designed for all students, regardless of current interest in technology.  Using design thinking and real-world tools, campers will work like real designers, engineers, and scientists.

Adventures include:
Augmented Reality
Campers experience augmented reality first-hand and record a virtual reality scene.
3D Printing
Campers analyze a problem, design a solution, create a software model and 3D print a prototype solution.
Campers learn about drone safety and relevant legal and ethical requirements.  Campers then design and build individual drones and conduct flying exercises.  The day ends with flying a large Dart drone.
Reverse Engineering
In order to design and build the technology of tomorrow, campers need to understand how things work today.  Campers disassemble and reassemble complex devices to see how they work, identify system components, and understand interrelationships.
